To develop structural packaging concepts for Google that embody sustainability through material selection, modular construction, and efficient use of resources while maintaining the clean, minimal aesthetic synonymous with the brand.
The design explorations combined functionality with thoughtful form. Using paper-based and recyclable materials, the structures balanced protection and elegance while reducing environmental impact. Each concept was guided by Google’s design philosophy of human-centred simplicity, with an emphasis on clarity, accessibility, and tactile quality.
The creative direction was built on the idea of “smart simplicity” — translating Google’s digital ethos into a physical experience that feels intuitive, responsible, and brand-aligned. The forms were understated yet functional, embodying the balance between technology and sustainability.
Prototypes explored various material innovations including molded pulp, FSC-certified papers, and minimal adhesive constructions. Each was designed for easy disassembly, recyclability, and a low carbon footprint. The team also examined scalable production methods to ensure global feasibility.
